Pinkel coached at Mizzou from 2001 to 2015 and, in that time, became the all-time winningest football coach in program history. The 70-year-old compiled a record of 191-110-3 in his time in Columbia.
One of his former players, Rep. Kurtis Gregory, spoke on his behalf on Wednesday. Gregory was a defensive tackle at MU from 2006 to 2009.
The honors are just beginning for the former Mizzou head coach, as he will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December in a ceremony in Las Vegas.
