One person hospitalized after rollover crash near Rock Bridge Elementary

UPDATE 11:30 am: According to the traffic crash report, the crash occurred when a BMW traveled off the right side of the road, struck a sign, became airborne, hit the ground and overturned.

Troopers said the investigation is continuing to determine the time the crash happened.

The driver, Henry Sherman, 20, was transported to University Hospital with serious injuries.

ORIGINAL: Emergency crews were called out to the 5300 block of Highway 163 in Columbia Friday morning for a reported vehicle collision.

Boone County Fire Protection District, University Hospital Ambulance Service and the Missouri State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene of a rollover crash less than a mile away from Rock Bridge Elementary School.

Troopers said one person was taken to the hospital with “injuries that appear serious.”

According to crews on scene, the small passenger car appears to have left the roadway just before 6:30 a.m.

ABC 17 News is working to get details on what may have caused this crash.
