Schweizer wins Midwest Regional cross country championship

Mizzou cross country star Karissa Schweizer is the Midwest Regional cross country champion for the second straight year. The Senior finished with a time of 19:50.9. Schweizer beat the runner-up, Kansas’ Sharon Lokedi, by 20 seconds.

This year’s Midwest Regional was held in Ames, Iowa. It was 24 degrees at the beginning of the race.

Just last week, Schweizer won her second state cross country SEC Championship.

The Urbandale, Iowa native will compete for her second straight cross country national title on November 18th. If she wins, it’ll be her fourth national championship. Schweizer is currently tied with former Mizzou wrestler J’den Cox for the most national titles in school history. As of now, both of them have three.
