Coldest air of the season to arrive within 24 hours

THURSDAY: We’ll have another mostly sunny but cool day with high temperatures reaching near 50. A cold front will move through, shifting winds to the north up to 10 mph which will cause temperatures to drop to near freezing by 9 PM, which will set the stage for a very chilly night.

TONIGHT: he coldest air of the season arrives tonight as lows drop into the mid to low 20s under clear skies. Areas north of HWY 24 will drop into the upper teens under clear skies. A light northeasterly breeze will produce wind chills in the lower teens by early Friday morning.

EXTENDED: Despite abundant sunshine Friday, our high temperatures will only reach the lower 40s as winds shift to the east up to 8 mph. Our next best chance of rain comes as we head into Saturday, as a disturbance tracks in from the Rocky Mountains. No severe weather is expected, but light rain showers look possible as we head into the second part of Saturday. Latest timing shows light rain showers to arrive after 6 PM. There could be a few lingering showers early Sunday morning, but we will be dry by the afternoon. Any accumulation will be light as most of mid-Missouri will receive less than a tenth of an inch of rain. Clouds will begin to decrease by Sunday afternoon. By next week, fair weather returns and we see highs slowly moderate back towards normal, reaching the upper 50s by mid-week.
