Two convicted felons charged after touching gun in gun store

Two convicted felons are facing more charges after Columbia police officers saw them touching a gun inside a gun store.

Jeremy Nash and Randy Bland are charged with unlawful possession of concealed weapon, after police saw video surveillance of the two looking then holding a store gun.

According to the gun store owner of Modern Arms, Larry Wayland, police told him the two men were not even allowed to be touching guns.

Wayland told ABC 17 News they don’t ID every store customer when they walk in the door so there was no indication the two couldn’t hold a firearm.

“We always want to err on the side of caution and thought we did everything we could,” Wayland said. “Nothing indicated that they did anything improper at the time.”

Wayland said the two men came inside the store with another man, the three men were chatting where the large guns were. The third man bought the rifle with cash and left. Wayland said police came in there because they believed the men were possibly involved in another crime.
