More than usual cases of pneumonia seein in Boone County

Doctors in Mid-Missouri said they are still seeing patients with the flu.

Dr. Tara Flynn at M-U Health said they are also seeing more than usual pneumonia cases in all age groups.

Flynn said sometimes this can follow an illness like the flu, or it can happen as the initial illness.

Pneumonia is a lung infection often associated with fevers and a cough that gets worse. Patients can get very sick and a chest x-ray is needed to diagnose it.

Flynn said a visit to urgent care can figure out if it’s pneumonia or not.
