Camden County man charged with rape and sodomy after he admits to having sex with 16-year-old

A Camden County man has been charged with rape, assault, armed criminal action and sodomy after a woman came to deputies claiming her daughter was being sexually assaulted.

According to the probable cause statement, the mother told officers she had recently learned her 17-year-old daughter was being sexually assaulted by John Gregory from May 2016 to May 2017.

Deputies said the victim had been diagnosed with a mental disability.

The victim told officers she had sex with Gregory on multiple occasions and never gave him permission, did not like it, told him no and fought him, but she always lost.

Officers said Gregory started having sex with the victim when she was 16.

Deputies said on one occasion, Gregory hit the victim with the butt of a gun, leaving a bruise on her leg.

Deputies said Gregory admitted to having sex with the victim 10 to 12 times.

Gregory’s bond has been set at $100,000 cash bond.
