Jefferson City man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to having illegal firearm
Tom Larson, acting United States attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced on Tuesday that Brandon Wilkerson had pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm that he stole during a series of home burglaries.
Wilkerson also pleaded guilty to being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.
Larson said from September to December 2016, residents of Callaway, Cole, Miller, Moniteau and Cooper counties reported numerous and related residential burglaries that were investigated by multiple county sheriff’s offices and police departments. Wilkerson was identified as one of the persons involved.
Wilkerson admitted to using methamphetamine for the past two years and to stealing a firearm and giving it to his methamphetamine dealer for $100 worth of the drug.
In January, Jefferson City police identified Wilkerson’s dealer and arrested him.
Police searched the man’s vehicle and found a pistol, which the man admitted he had obtained from Wilkerson in exchange for methamphetamine.
Wilkerson could face a possible 10 years in prison without parole.
