Ashland shooting confirmed as murder-suicide

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the shooting in Ashland on Friday was a murder-suicide.

Boone County deputies identified the victims in a deadly overnight shooting in Ashland as 42-year-old Travis J. Parker and 36-year-old Jessica Willits.

According to the official release, the investigation determined Parker shot Willits before taking his own life.

Ashland Police Chief Lyn Woolford told ABC 17 News the two victims are engaged and have lived in Ashland since about July.

Woolford said troopers, deputies and police officers tried to make contact when they arrived on scene but no one answered. They found the two victims shot dead.
