Columbia police arrest man accused of a burglary at Tiger Cleaners

Columbia police arrested Andrew Birmingham early Saturday morning after officers were dispatched to Tiger Cleaners in the 100 block of Eighth Street in reference to a burglary.

Police said officers made contact with an employee who said Birmingham came into the store when he was not supposed to be there.

The employee told Birmingham he needed to leave. When he left, the employee saw that several items belonging to her were missing, police said.

Officers said they found Birmingham on Tenth Street and East Broadway and found the employees items.

Police said they also found multiple tools, a fixed bladed knife, a butterfly knife, a debit car belonging to another person, and a plastic syringe filled with methamphetamine.

Birmingham was arrested and faces possible charges of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, burglary, stealing, possession of burglars’ tools
