UPDATE: Arrest in south Columbia stabbing investigation
UPDATE: Monday, Nov. 6, 9:30 a.m.: Columbia police have confirmed Frank Benedetti was arrested for the stabbing Saturday night.
Police say Benedetti and the two men were in a physical altercation. Benedetti allegedly used a “cutting instrument”. The two men suffered serious injuries; one to his arm and lower back, the other to his stomach.
UPDATE: 9:30 a.m.: ABC 17 News is working to confirm if Columbia police have made an arrest after two people were stabbed in south Columbia.
The Boone County Jail has an inmate, Frank Benedetti, with an arrest charge of assault with serious physical injury. Benedetti has a listed address in the 3700 block of Pimlico Drive, where the stabbing happened.
As of Sunday morning, police have not confirmed if Benedetti is connected to the stabbing.
ORIGINAL STORY: A sergeant with the Columbia Police Department confirms two men were stabbed in the 3700 block of Pimlico Drive Saturday night.
Emergency responders were called to the area around 8:45 p.m. The sergeant tells ABC 17 News the two men were taken to the hospital.
The extent of the victims’ injuries are unknown, and police detained “several people at the scene for questioning,” according to a news release by the Columbia Police Department.
Parts of Pimlico Drive are blocked off by crime scene tape, and police are working to obtain a search warrant for the home.
