Weather changes to expect within the month of November

November is a month of drastic weather changes as fall-like weather begins to transition into more winter-like weather. November is the last month of meteorological fall so we can expect fairly large changes in the weather pattern– even within the first two weeks of the month.

The average high temperature for start of November comes in at 61 degrees. Within the first two weeks of the month that number drops to 55. That’s nearly half a degree drop per day. On the last day of November, the average high is 46 degrees. For the entire month the average high temperature drops 15 degrees. The average low temperature drops even more drastically, from 46 to 29. That’s 17 degrees!

Looking at the current forecasts for the next two weeks, for the most part, temperatures look to remain fairly warm. The current 7-day forecast shows temperatures wavering a bit from day to day, with a few cool downs, but most of the days look to hold warmer than normal temperatures. This Sunday, mid-Missouri can expect temperatures to be over 17 degrees above average!

Beyond the 7-day, the CPC predicts that mid-Missouri will see warmer than normal temperatures from November 8 – 14. The average high temperature during this time ranges from 55 – 58 degrees, with average lows ranging from 36 – 38 degrees. With this long range forecast, we can expect high temperatures from November 8 – 14 to likely be above 58, with lows above 38.

In the terms of precipitation, the CPC shows that the next 14 days will hold more rainfall than usual. On average, from November 1 – 14, Columbia accumulates 1.51″ of rain. With the long range outlook, we can expect rainfall totals in excess of 1.51″ by November 14. By the end of the month, Columbia typically sees 3.25″ of rainfall, with less than 1″ of snowfall.
