Columbia police arrest woman accused of barricading herself in a hotel room, trying to lick officers

Columbia police arrested Elizabeth Cordero early Sunday morning after officers were dispatched to a trespassing person at the Budget Host Inn.

Police said Cordero checked into a room and was supposed to check out on Saturday morning.

The manager of the hotel said Cordero was damaging property, threatening staff and refusing to leave the property, police said.

Officers attempted to make contact with Cordero, who had barricaded herself in the room. Cordero told officers she was not leaving the room.

Police were able to use a master key to open the door and pushed a table and chairs Cordero was using to barricade the door out of the way.

Cordero attempted to pull away and lick officers, police said.

Officers said they found methamphetamine near the night stand.

Cordero was arrested and faces possible charges of possession of a controlled substance, resisting or interfering with arrest, and trespassing.
