Chilly weekend ahead, first freeze of the season
TONIGHT: There is a Freeze Warning starting at 1 AM until 10 AM Saturday morning. You’ll want to protect any outdoor plants you want to save since our first freeze of the season occurs by early morning as temperatures fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s. The clouds will break up as we go through the night as winds remain near 10 mph from the northwest, producing wind chills in the mid to upper 20s. Patchy frost is possible in wind protected areas.
SATURDAY: Skies will become mostly sunny but it will still be chilly with afternoon high temperatures staying in the mid to upper 40s and northwest winds at 8-10 mph.
EXTENDED: We’ll have a hard freeze Saturday night as temperatures drop to the freezing mark by 1 AM, producing a widespread frost. Low temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 20s by early Sunday morning with light winds under 4 mph. After a cold start, we’ll warm a few more degrees Sunday, reaching the mid 50s with afternoon clouds. Another cold front moves in Monday bringing a slight chance of showers and another surge of cooler air. This will keep us in the lower 50s Monday and only in the upper 40s for Halloween. We are watching for the possibility of showers Tuesday night after 7 PM into Wednesday morning as moisture moves in from the southwest. There is still some uncertainty on how far north the rain will develop and we will have updates and more details as new data comes in.
