Much cooler through the weekend
TONIGHT: Clouds will increase and northwest winds will increase to 15 mph, gusting to 25 mph at times. It will be colder as temperatures fall into the upper 30s by morning with the wind making it feel more like 30 degrees by daybreak.
FRIDAY: There is a small chance for sprinkles or light showers along the I-44 corridor by Friday morning as the front pushes to the southeast, but it looks to be mainly dry. It will be breezy and cold with morning temperatures in the 30s and only reaching the low to mid 40s in the afternoon. The wind will make it feel more like 30 in the morning with wind chills in the 30s in the afternoon as northwesterly winds at 15 mph gust to 25 mph at times under partly sunny skies.
EXTENDED: The first freeze of the season is expected both Friday and Saturday night as temperatures drop to near 30 with some upper 20s possible. A freeze watch is in effect for Benton, Morgan, Miller, Maries, Camden, Pulaski, Pettis, and Phelps Counties Friday night into Saturday morning as overnight lows drop into the upper 20s to low 30s. It will be a chilly weekend with high temperatures only in the low to mid 40s Saturday, dropping into the upper 20s Saturday night. Westerly winds will bring temperatures up slightly Sunday, reaching the lower 50s with partly cloudy skies. Another cold front moves in Monday bringing a slight chance of showers and another surge of cooler air. This will keep us in the lower 50s Monday and only near 50 for Halloween. At this time, Halloween looks dry and cool with evening temperatures dropping into the upper 30s by 11 PM.
