Not as cold tonight, with warmer and breezy conditions for Thursday
TONIGHT: It will be a little bit warmer tonight as temperatures only drop to the mid 40s under clear skies. Winds will shift out of the southeast under 10 mph, aiding in keeping temperatures warmer through the night. Wind chill values by morning will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
THURSDAY: Grab that jacket for the first part of the morning, as wind chill values will be near 40 degrees across Mid-Missouri. Thanks to breezy conditions out of the southeast, temperatures will rapidly warm into the upper 70s under sunny skies. Winds will once again be pick up speed through the afternoon hours, with winds out of the southwest up to 20 mph and gusting at times up to 25. Through the afternoon hours we’ll see a cold front sweep through Mid-Missouri, which will be the leading edge of the coldest air that will filter in Thursday night into the weekend.
EXTENDED: By Thursday night temperatures will drop into the upper 30s across Mid-MIssouri, with breezy winds remaining across the region. This will allow wind chill values to drop near freezing by Friday morning. The coldest air of the season will slowly track into Mid-Missouri through the day Friday, with highs struggling to climb out of the lower 40s. Some light rain showers with a brief flurry is possible Friday, but the dry nature of the atmosphere will likely evaporate anything before it makes it to the ground. Any light rain showers we see will leave less than a .10″ The first freeze of the season is expected both Friday and Saturday night as temperatures drop to near 30 with some upper 20s possible. With the first freeze likely upon us, it’s important to make sure you and your home are prepared. Saturday morning there is a slight rain chance with the potential for a few flurries mixed in our far northern counties. Most areas will stay dry throughout the weekend. By the start of next work week we will see temperatures rebound back into the 50s with overnight lows staying in the upper 30s.
