Cole County Sheriff’s Department warns of Jury Duty scam

According to a press release from the Cole County Sheriff’s Department, suspects are calling people and identifying themselves as deputies.

The suspects tell the victims that they missed jury duty and have to pay with money orders. The suspects told the victims that if they didn’t pay, there would would be warrants out for their arrest.

The suspects are saying that they’re Deputy Kevin Woodson. A Kevin Woodson works for the sheriff’s department, but he is not the one making the calls.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department is reminding people that they show up and serve warrants and don’t call to tell you about a warrant for your arrest.
