Eldon School District raises over $11,000 for injured football player

The Eldon School District has raised $11,550 for Hunter Bushnell, a teenager who was seriously injured during football practice.

The district was able to raise the money by selling more than 1,000 T-shirts.

Back in September, Bushnell was practicing when he “received a hard hit.” The district said coaches followed proper safety procedure and for precautionary reasons called for emergency personnel assistance.

Bushnell was taken to the hospital, where doctors found he had broken the C5 vertebrae in his neck. He was “always conscious and breathing appropriately,” but had extensive surgery overnight.

The district will be sending the money to Bushnell’s family to help with medical expenses.
