Stormy and cool Tuesday across Mid-Missouri

TUESDAY: What a difference 24 hours can make across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s this afternoon and will continue to fall through the day. It’s the coolest we’ve been in some time and we can thank a cold front for the crisp, fall, and stormy weather. Through the afternoon hours we’ll see the cold front and surface low track parallel to Interstate 40, this will keep waves of rain in the forecast for Mid-Missouri, with a small chance of a severe storm near the low itself. The rain will come in waves today and our highs will gradually fall. Winds today will be out of the NW up to 12 mph, with gusts as high as 21. Closing out the day areas could see .50″ of rainfall, with localized areas up to 1″.

TONIGHT: This evening will see drying conditions as the low pressure system continues to push east. Skies will remain cloudy with winds out of the west up to 11 mph. Temperatures will be cool by morning, dropping into the upper 40s.

EXTENDED: Wednesday looks to remain cloudy with high temperatures in the lower 60s. By Wednesday night, we’ll see a return of southerly winds and allowing temperatures to rapidly warm into the 70s and 80s throughout the rest of the week with dry conditions. The summer pattern looks to once again be challenged as we head into next weekend. A cold front looks to bring another chance of storms Saturday as we reach the mid to upper 80s, followed by cooler weather Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will drop steadily into the 70s, then back into the 60s. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
