Mizzou baseball player earns SEC weekly honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Southeastern Conference named Mizzou graduate transfer Fox Leum the SEC Player of the Week following a big weekend in the team's series win over South Carolina.

Leum led the league with a .636 batting average and nine RBI. The designated hitter when 7-for-11 at the plate over the last week in games against Illinois, SIUE, and South Carolina.

In MU's series win against the Gamecocks, Leum sparked head coach Steve Bieser's offense. On Saturday, he put up a two-run homer in the second inning and also added on an RBI in the eighth to help lead Mizzou to an 11-7 victory. On Sunday he followed up that performance with another three RBI afternoon, courtesy of a couple of base hits.

The graduate transfer's three-RBI performances matched his career best, which he's hit twice before.

Leum is the first Tiger tot earn SEC weekly honors since TJ Sikkema in 2019.
