Man arrested after being accused of leading authorities on chase, reaching speeds over 100 mph
Logan Phillips was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident after leading authorities on a multi-county chase.
According to the probable cause statement, Eldon Communications advised Eldon police that Missouri State Highway Patrol need their help in a pursuit of a fleeing vehicle.
Police said the vehicle was a Buick and it was traveling on Highway 87.
Police said they observed the Buick traveling south on the highway with a Cole County patrol vehicle behind it with its emergency lights and sirens on.
Police said the Buick drove into oncoming traffic to go around a stopped vehicle at a stop sign, the Buick continued into oncoming traffic on Business 54 Highway traveling east.
Police said they began to try and stop the Buick but the car continued to not yield to officers.
Police said during the chase, the Buick had a high rate of speed nearly colliding with multiple oncoming vehicles.
Police said at the intersection of Business 54 Highway and South Aurora Street, the Buick drove into oncoming traffic and struck another motorist that was turning at the intersection.
The Buick left the scene of the accident and continued traveling east on Highway 52 at a high rate of speed.
Police said they pursued the vehicle into Morgan County, where speeds reached more than 100 mph.
Police said the pursuit ended less than a mile away from Laurie city limits.
Police said they arrested Phillips and took him to Morgan County Jail.
According to the probable cause statement, the initial reason why Cole County deputies tried to pull Philips over was because the Buick had left the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Cole County.
