UPDATE: One person is hurt after getting trapped under car

UPDATE – 9:00 a.m.: Columbia police told ABC 17 News that officers responded to the area of Locust Street and Providence to a report of a vehicle collision with a pedestrian.

Officers say a vehicle rolled out of a nearby gas station parking lot just before 9:30 p.m. Monday and struck the pedestrian who was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

At the time of this update, officers did not have any information on any possible injuries sustained by the pedestrian.

ORIGINAL: At least one person was hurt after a vehicle crash in central Columbia Monday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. on Locust Street near Providence Road.

According to the Columbia Fire Department, one person was taken to the hospital after they were trapped under the vehicle.

Investigators have not released the victim’s name, condition or how they ended up underneath the car.

ABC 17 News will update this story once emergency crews release more information about what happened.
