Work on Route 54 bridge over Richland Creek scheduled to begin Thursday

Work to replace the deck on the westbound Route 54 bridge over Richland Creek is scheduled to begin on Thursday.

The bridge is located between Kingdom City and Fulton.

MODOT crews said the work will reduce westbound Route 54 to one lane for approximately 75 days.

MODOT said the work will allow the bridge to provide 20 to 25 years of service.

Electronic message boards will be in place to inform motorists about the work, MODOT said.

The bridge deck replacements are part of a larger project that is improving nine Route 54 bridges between I-70 in Kingdom City and New Bloomfield in Callaway County during the next 12 months.

MODOT said the entire bridge project will cost $7.3 million.
