Vehicle chase leads Callaway County deputies on multi-county pursuit
Callaway County deputies arrested two people Saturday night following a multi-county chase that began after deputies attempted to stop them for a traffic violation, according to a press release.
Deputies said they tried to stop the truck on County Road 269 for speeding around 7 p.m.
The driver fled from deputies on various back roads, eventually driving through Boone County, according to the release.
Deputies said that while pursuing the truck in Boone County, the driver turned around and headed toward them straight-on, barely missing the patrol car.
Deputies were able to take the driver, Kathleen Morey, and the passenger, Daniel Peek, both from Columbia, into custody.
Morey was taken to the Callaway County Jail and is facing charges of exceeding the speed limit, careless and imprudent driving, felony charge of resisting arrest and various other traffic charges.
Deputies said Morey also was arrested on two Boone County warrants for failing to appear and for an unrelated theft investigation through the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
Peek was also taken to the Callaway County Jail and is facing charges of fourth-degree stealing in relation to another Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigation on Sept. 13.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia Police Department, Auxvasse Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Callaway County deputies with the pursuit.
