Summer-like conditions to end the weekend

TODAY: It will be another sunny and hot start to the day today. Thanks to southerly winds, a departing upper level ridge, and a weak upper level disturbance, we’ll see more in the way of clouds through the day. Parts of Mid-Missouri could pick up some isolated showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon hours. Most locations will stay dry and hot though, as highs will top out in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Winds will be out of the south under 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Expect another warm, muggy night under mostly clear skies. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s with light winds out of the south up to 5 mph.

EXTENDED: Heading into the work week, temperatures will remain above average, reaching the upper 80s on Monday. Spotty storms are possible Monday afternoon mainly west of HWY 63 with the chance increasing Monday night into Tuesday as a strong cold front moves through. As the upper level flow becomes more zonal, we’ll see the bulk of the energy to our north. This will limit just how much rain we’ll see as we head into Tuesday, with most locations staying dry. What will be noticeable though is the temperature drop behind the cold front. Temperatures will drop into the lower 80s Tuesday and mid 70s Wednesday, with nights cooling into the 50s. The cooler, seasonal weather will last through the end of next week and weekend. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
