Eldon school district offers support to injured football player at homecoming

The Eldon Public Schools District continued to gather support for one of their own Friday.

At the district’s homecoming game, money was collected for Hunter Bushnell’s medical bills.

It comes two days after the football player broke his neck at practice.

“Anytime you have an accident, the kids in the community have kind of rallied around the situation,” Asst. principal and athletic director Steve Henderson said before Friday night’s game. “It’s homecoming for the entire school district and community and it’s a way to rally, to show our support for him, but also the community.”

A University Hospital spokesman told ABC 17 News Bushnell is in fair condition.

Friends have also said the junior got some feeling back in his lower body after getting out of surgery.
