15-year-old killed after crash in Pettis county

On Wednesday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a single-car crash on Route Y in Pettis County.

According to the traffic crash reports, the crash happened as a vehicle attempted to pass another car and the driver lost control.

Troopers said the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.

Troopers said the occupant, Jordan Sparks, 15, was pronounced dead at Bothwell Regional Hospital a couple of hours after the crash.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy, had minor injuries and refused treatment.
