Man drives into pond, found OK in water tank
A suspected drunk driver is expected to be OK after plowing into a pond in Boone County Wednesday night.
According to assistant chief Gale Blomenkamp with the Boone County Fire Department, the man was traveling south along Tomlin Hill Road when he reached a curve by Barry Road and ran off the path.
The car then ran through a backyard in the 8100 block of Tomlin Hill Road, coming to rest in a pond. Blomenkamp said the man was able to get out of the car before emergency responders arrived.
Someone who owns horses at Grey Hawk Stables on Barry Road told ABC 17 News she found the man in a horse water stock tank with part of his head above water.
She said she was worried he was dead.
When she spoke to the man, he rose out of the tank with only a t-shirt covering part of his body. She said he was also covered in cuts.
He was told to leave and that’s when she called emergency responders around 5:45 p.m.
Blomenkamp confirmed the man was found walking in the neighborhood. He also said the man admitted to drinking before the collision.
The man was then checked out at a hospital for his injuries.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the car ran into a water tank. It has been corrected.
