Camden County man charged with assault, suspected of fracturing man’s skull

On Tuesday, Andrew Rollheiser was arrested after being accused of assaulting a man over a girl.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim went to officers back in August saying he had been assaulted at a Camden County locale known as Lover’s Leap.

Deputies said the victim took a girl up to the location, while they were there the victim was hit in the back of the head with a blunt object.

The victim told officers he could hear his attackers yell, “That’s not your girl, that is Andy’s girl!,” as the attackers continued to hit him.

The victim described the attackers as having motorcycle helmets and dark colored clothes with long sleeves.

Deputies said the victim did not know who his attackers were.

The victim told deputies he was able to run away from the scene and get into his car.

The victim said when he got to his car he noticed black paint on it.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim wne to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment because of his injuries.

Deputies said the victim suffered a fractured skull, several lacerations that were repaired with stitches and sutures and a small brain bleed.

The girl the victim was with was interviewed by the deputies on two occasions, deputies said.

The first time she was interviewed she stated she did not know who the attackers were, deputies said.

The second time she was interviewed she admitted that her boyfriend, Rollheiser, and a friend went to Lover’s Leap and assaulted the victim, deputies said.

Deputies said the girl admitted to Rollheiser using a 2×4 and the friend had hit the victim with a knife, but did not stab the victim.

When Rollheiser was arrested, he admitted to becoming enraged after seeing the victim and the girl together, deputies said.

According to the probable cause statement, Rollheiser admitted to using a bedpost to hit the victim but his friend did not have a knife.

Rollheiser is currently charged with assault and property damage.
