Two arrested after officers find over 1,000 grams of marijuana in East Columbia

Officers arrested James Kelly and Courtney Hoffman on Tuesday after finding marijuana in the 900 block of Keene Street.

According to police, officers saw Kelly lying in the parking lot next to his vehicle. Hoffman was seen standing next to Kelly.

Officers said they also saw marijuana on the pavement next to Kelly and Hoffman and marijuana on the front seat of the vehicle.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located multiple baggies that contained marijuana and money, and a backpack that contained three large bags of marijuana, police said.

Officers said that in total, they found more than 1,000 grams of marijuana.

Kelly was arrested and faces possible charges of felony unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance.

Hoffman was arrested and faces possible charges of felony unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance.
