Osage County deputies report influx of credit card scams

The Osage County Sheriff’s Department reported on Tuesday it has seen an influx of credit card scams and fraudulent call scams in the area.

Deputies say residents need to gear up on protecting themselves, their belongings and their personal information.

Osage County Sheriff Mike Bonham says to stay safe, residents need to be vigilant. If a person notices anything suspicious, the person should report it.

Bonham said to document serial numbers of all electronics and to hide them out of view.

Residents should use excessive caution when using ATMs and only use them in well-lit and well-trafficked areas, said Bonham.

Residents should always check for card scanners, or anything suspicious, at the gas pumps and ATMs, warned Bonham.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office will not call you to request payment for a warrant over the phone, adds Bonham.
