Two Columbia men arrested, accused of stealing a car and items inside the vehicle

Two Columbia men were arrested on Monday morning after witnesses said they observed them going through the contents of a vehicle before walking away, according to the Columbia police.

Police said officers were dispatched to the area of Pennant Street and West Worley Street in reference to suspicious persons.

Officers said their investigation revealed a witness had heard a loud noise outside and observed a vehicle that was on fire. Two male suspects were observed going through the contents of the stolen vehicle before walking away from the crash, officers said.

The two suspects were later determined to be Tra’shaun Hayes and Shaquan Davis, police said.

Officers said they located Hayes and Davis in the 700 block of Wilkes Boulevard.

Police said Hayes was in possession of some of the stolen items from the vehicle.

Hayes was arrested and is facing possible charges of felony tampering, felony property damage and misdemeanor stealing.

Davis was arrested and is facing possible charges of felony tampering and misdemeanor stealing.
