Storms overnight to end dry spell in Mid-Missouri
TONIGHT: Storms through the night will end the dry spell in Mid-Missouri and bring some beneficial rain to the region. The storms will be slow to move into the region, as a slow moving cold front tracks into Missouri. Main influx of storms will arrive after 7 PM, with some storms initially being on the strong side. Gusty winds and quarter size hail can’t be ruled out in some of the stronger storms. Due to the slow movement of the storms, rain totals up to .75″ will be likely. Overnight temperatures will drop into the upper 60s with southerly winds under 12 mph.
SUNDAY: It will be a stormy start to the day as overnight storms continue through the morning hours. Most of the activity through Sunday morning will be along and south of Interstate 70. We’ll see a brief break in activity, before more storms arrive through the evening hours. These storms will come as an upper level disturbance tracks in from the southwest and rides along the frontal boundary, that sparked overnight storms. No severe weather is expected, but a few strong storms are possible. Highs will be in th lower 80s, with winds out of the south under 8 mph.
EXTENDED: Scattered showers and storms will continue through Monday, with a marginal risk of severe weather in place. These storms will come as a series of upper level disturbances traverse the region and continue to bring some beneficial rain to the region. Through most of next week, daily rain chances are possible, with rainfall accumulation topping off near 1.50″ by the end of next week. Despite the rain, we still stay on the warm side. Highs each day will be in the 80s, with overnight lows in the 60s. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
