Man dies after shooting on McKee Street in east Columbia
UPDATE 9/16: Police have identified the victim in Friday night’s shooting as Nathan Earl Taylor, 31, of Kansas City.
CPD is asking anyone with information on the homicide to contact them or CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
UPDATE 2: The victim of the shooting on McKee Street has died, according to a news release from the police department.
The department said it will not give out the victim’s name until his family is notified. The news release said he died shortly after medical personnel picked him up in the 1800 block of McKee Street on Friday night.
UPDATE: Columbia Police Department spokesperson Bryana Larimer said a 31-year-old man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday after he was shot in the 1800 block of McKee Street.
Larimer said the shooting happened outside a home in the area and the suspect was last seen in an older model white SUV or pick-up truck.
CPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Evidence Unit is investigating. Larimer said the area will likely be blocked off for several hours while officers investigate.
Columbia police were called to McKee Street Park on Wednesday for reports of shots fired. Officers found two shell casings in the area, but did not believe anyone was hurt.
Larimer said officers do not believe the incidents are related at this time.
CPD is asking residents in the area to report any suspicious activity while they continue to investigate the shooting.
ORIGINAL: The Columbia Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 1800 block of Mckee Street.
Officers blocked off part of the street near the park late Friday night. ABC 17 News spoke to neighbors who said they heard what sounded like 2-3 gunshots.
A medical response was listed in the area around 9:30 p.m. ABC 17 News crews reported seeing an ambulance leave the area with its lights on followed by a CPD cruiser.
ABC 17 News has crews on scene working to confirm more details about the shooting, including if anyone was hurt.
