Boonville office closes temporarily due to issue with bats

The Department of Social Services office located in the 400 block of High Street in Boonville is temporarily closed due to an issue with bats, a spokesperson for the Missouri Department of Corrections Center said on Friday.

Officials say some routine maintenance work uncovered an issue with bats in the facility.

The Missouri Office of Administration is working with the property owner to fix the situation and remove the bats.

Karen Pojmann with the Missouri Department of Corrections said the facility is leased to the Division of Probation and Parole and employees are currently not meeting with clients in that building.

Ryan Burs with the Missouri Office of Administration says the issue is expected to be resolved in the next few days and then normal operations will resume.
