Man with Cole County warrants arrested in connection with Sedalia shooting investigation

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Sedalia police say officers have arrested a man in connection with an investigation into an early March shooting who was also wanted on Cole County warrants.

Arthur G. Phillips Jr., 29, was arrested while police were investigating a March 2 shooting on Harrison Avenue in which bullet holes were found in a vehicle and privacy fence, according to a Sedalia Police Department news release. Police say no witnesses would speak with officers at the scene.

Phillips had active arrest warrants for unlawful use of a weapon and drug possession in Cole County, Sedalia police said. Officers found Phillips on Friday when they searched the home outside of which the shooting occurred, according to the release.

Officers arrested Phillips on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after finding items in the home, police said.

Police also issued a citation for the home being a nuisance property. The investigation into the shooting continues.
