J. Cox wins bronze at World Championships in Paris

J’den Cox is a bronze medalist once again. MU wrestling’s volunteer assistant coach defeated Bulgaria’s Mihail Ganev, 8-0, to capture the 86 kilogram bronze at the wrestling world championships in Paris, France on Friday.

Cox won his first four matches of the day, but he lost in the semifinals to Slovakia’s Boris Makoev, 6-3.

In 2016, the former Hickman Kewpie won an Olympic Bronze Medal in Rio at 86 kilograms. This past March, Cox became Mizzou’s only three-time wrestling national champion after he defeated Minnesota’s Bret Pfarr in the 197 pound final. He’s also a four-time All-American and a four-time conference champion. In high school, Cox won four state championships at four different weight classes.
