ORIGINAL STORY: According to an official press release, Gov. Eric Greitens has ordered that the U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings be flown at half-staff on Aug. 15 to honor decorated Marine Sergeant Talon Leach.
Sergeant Leach, 27, of Fulton, died in the line of duty after a transport plane he was in crashed on its way to a pre-deployment training.
ABC 17 News previously reported that a benefit dinner was held in Sergeant Leach’s honor. The event was held at the American Legion Post 5 on Tanner Bridge Road in Jefferson City. People paid for a chicken dinner, alongside a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. The proceeds were split evenly between Leach’s mother and father.
