UPDATE: trailer fire in Boone County being investigated as arson
UPDATE: 8:15 a.m.: Boone County Fire officials tell ABC 17 News the trailer fire is being investigated as arson.
ORIGINAL STORY: Boone County and Columbia firefighters are working to put out a trailer fire on Ponderosa Street, south of Columbia.
ABC 17 News crews saw white smoke coming from the trailer’s windows and doors. Firefighters were seen using axes to get into the trailer and into different rooms inside.
Columbia Fire officials say they’re not sure yet how the fire started but it appears it began outside of the trailer. Investigators are on scene.
Neighbors told ABC 17 no one lived in the trailer and the previous tenant was evicted from the property within the last week.
