Schnucks opens latest store at Battle Crossing
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Schnucks opened its third store in Columbia and fourth store in Mid-Missouri at the Battle Crossing location at 5410 Clark Lane in Columbia on Wednesday. The new Battle Crossing location is the 112th store in the Schnucks family.
Chuck Murphy, store manager of the Battle Crossing location, said people were lined up outside at 6 a.m. ready to do some shopping.
Officials say the 48,000-square-foot Battle Crossing location will include produce, meat, seafood, deli and bakery as well as prepared foods and grab-and-go items.
“Schnucks is committed to nourishing the lives of customers, and we’re excited to create a store that they will be able to quickly and easily navigate while finding an extensive selection of the fresh products for which we’re known,” said Todd Schnuck, Schnucks Chairman and CEO in a release.
Murphy said his employees are excited to serve the Columbia community and the question he kept getting was when will a store open in the northeast part of town. Two people said that the best part about the new location is how close it is to their home.
Keith Clark, a Columbia resident, said he would usually have to drive 15 minutes to do his grocery shopping, but now he can save gas and time by shopping closer to home.
"I live probably about five minutes away from here so it's a whole lot easier for me to just come over here instead of trying to fight that traffic when they have you know baseball games or basketball games and there's a whole bunch of people," said Clark.
