High heat continuing into Sunday afternoon

TODAY: The Excessive Heat Warning will continue until 8PM tonight for much of Mid-Missouri, with heat indices reaching near 100-105 by the early afternoon. The rest of your Sunday will continue to dry up, with partly sunny skies by this afternoon. The passing cold front responsible for the storms chances this morning will bring relief from the heat by this evening with the high temperature staying hot in the mid 90s. Areas that see more cloud cover today may see a cooler high in the lower 90s. Evening conditions will bring warm temperatures in the upper 70s under mostly clear skies.

MONDAY: Weather will finally take a turn for the better! Expect sunny skies with seasonal highs in the upper 80s. Heat indices will stay tame in the lower 90s by the afternoon with a cool northeasterly wind under 5 mph keeping us comfortable. Conditions will stay mild and clear overnight.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will begin to warm up again by Tuesday, rising back into the lower 90s. A warm front will move through Tuesday, bringing a slight chance for isolated storms along with the rising heat and humidity for the second half of next week. High temperatures are expected to climb back into the mid 90s by Wednesday. By Thursday and Friday, another cold front will drop into the area, giving Mid-Missouri another chance for rain and storms along with another cool down.
