Sweltering Saturday afternoon, evening brings storm chance

TODAY: Temperatures will quickly climb to the upper 90s, reaching 100 in a few spots. The humidity will push heat indices around 110 in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. It will stay dry through most of Saturday, but rain chances increase after 8 PM north of I-70 as a cold front approaches. There is a Marginal Risk for severe storms Saturday evening for areas north of HWY 50 for isolated quarter size hail and wind gusts to 60 mph. Storms will gradually shift to the south overnight and weaken.

SUNDAY: S potty showers and thunderstorms are possible through early-morning Sunday. Most of the day will be dry but a few storms could develop south of HWY 50 by late afternoon and into the evening. The passing cold front responsible for the storms chances will bring relief from the heat, with high temperatures staying near 90 Sunday .

EXTENDED: Temperatures will be seasonal for Monday and Tuesday, dropping back into the upper 80s. However, a warm front will move through Tuesday, bringing a slight chance of storms along with rising heat and humidity for the second half of next week. High temperatures are expected to climb back into the lower 90s. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
