Man charged, accused of threatening someone with a machete

A man is charged with armed criminal action and assault after he allegedly threatened another man with an machete.

Linn police say they responded 308 E. Benton just after midnight on Wednesday. That’s where police found Steven Munie along with another man and a woman. The man said the woman had warned him Munie was coming with a machete.

The victim said Munie showed up at the house and threatened him by holding the machete to his neck. Munie then allegedly hit the man with the machete and threatened to “bleed him like a goat.”

Munie said he brought the machete for intimidation purposes, and threw it down before fighting with the victim. Police arrested Munie after they found his machete and saw a cut on the victim’s neck.
