CPD to saturate “hotspot” crime areas in Columbia

CPD has announced that their Street Crimes Unit and a small portion of patrol officers will be sent to “hotspot” crime areas. These officers will “saturate” the areas, looking for suspicious activity.

The Street Crimes Unit and patrol officers, along with K-9 Units, began at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and went until 11:00 p.m. During that time, detectives and officers made 26 traffic stops, checked four subjects, made three warrant arrests, two resisting arrests, four driving while suspended arrests and two drug arrests.

According to CPD, “We will continue to actively identify and monitor “hotspot” crime areas and utilize resources, like saturations, when necessary and available.”
