Storms expected by this weekend

TODAY: Under sunny skies, temperatures will once again break into the upper 90s by the afternoon. High humidity will make it feel like 104 to 110 degrees in the afternoon hours. Winds from the southwest up to 10 mph will give us a little relief. Another warm night is in store for Mid-Missouri as overnight lows are dropping only to the mid to upper 70s under mostly clear skies. It will be muggy with winds out of the south near 5-7 mph.

SATURDAY: It will stay dry through most of Saturday, but rain chances increase by the evening hours in northern Missouri as a cold front approaches. Storms will increase north of I-70 after 7 PM and move south overnight. There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather Saturday evening for northeastern Mid-Missouri. Risks include isolated chances for quarter-sized hail and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.

EXTENDED: Spotty showers and thunderstorms are possible through mid-morning Sunday. Sunday gradually dry out as storms push to the south. The passing cold front responsible for the storms chances will bring relief from the heat, with high temperatures staying near 90 Sunday. Temperatures will be seasonal for Monday and Tuesday, dropping back into the upper 80s. However, a warm front will pull through Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a slight chance of storms, rising heat, and humidity for the second half of next week. High temperatures are expected to climb back into the lower 90s. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
