Large police presence at Motel 6 in Columbia

UPDATE – 9:10 a.m.: According to a press release from CPD, a male victim reported that two male suspects pushed him into a room, assaulted him, and demanded his property.

One of the suspects shot a firearm in the direction of the victim, but the victim was not hit and no property was damaged. The victim did have minor injuries from the assault. There have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE – 6:00 a.m.: Columbia police cleared the scene of the Motel 6 after investigating a shots fired report for almost two hours.

Officers tell ABC 17 News that no shell casings or any other evidence of gunshots were found at motel.

UPDATE – 5:10 a.m.: Columbia police confirmed they responded to a shots heard call in the Motel 6.

Boone County sheriff’s deputies were called in to provide backup.

No shell casings or any other evidence have been discovered to suggest that shots were fired.

Boone County has cleared the scene and CPD is still investigating.

ORIGINAL STORY: There is a large police presence outside the Motel 6 in Columbia on I-70 Dr. Southeast. Reports indicate a call to police came in around 4:15 a.m.

Columbia police officers and Boone County deputies are on scene. There is currently no medical response to the motel.

ABC 17 News crews are working to confirm why law enforcement responded to the motel.
