Callaway County man charged with assault, making homicidal threats

The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Richard Tipton, 51, of Williamsburg, on Thursday with the felony offenses of first degree domestic assault, second degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, tampering with a victim and unlawful possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to the 5000 block of O’Keefe Ridge Road in the Kingdom of Callaway Estates neighborhood for a reported domestic disturbance involving a firearm.

Richard Tipton had fled the scene in a vehicle. The investigation revealed that Tipton physically assaulted and choked the victim several times before getting a rifle. Tipton allegedly pointed the rifle at the victim’s head and made homicidal threats to the victim if they contacted the police.

Deputies patrolling the area stopped a vehicle in which Tipton was a passenger in and he was taken into custody.

Tipton is in the Callaway County Jail pending the posting of $60,000 bond.
