Excessive heat warning continues

WEDNESDAY: A few showers look possible for our far western counties for the morning commute, from 5-9 AM. Starting the day temps will be in the mid to upper 70s. An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from Wednesday until 8 PM Saturday for most of Mid-Missouri except Camden, Pulaski and Phelps counties. These three counties are now under a Heat Advisory due to slightly lower heat indices up to 104. Hot, humid weather continues with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s and heat indices of 100-106 in the afternoon. Winds will remain light out of the southwest under 6 mph under mostly sunny skies.

TONIGHT: Temperatures tonight will remain warm as overnight lows bottom out in the mid 70s. Skies will remain mostly clear with a breeze under 7 mph. High humidity will keep it feeling muggy through the overnight hours.

EXTENDED: The heat continues to build for the end of the week as high temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s and heat indices climb to 103 in the Ozarks but as high as 110 farther north. It will stay dry through Saturday but rain chances increase Saturday night in northern Missouri as a cold front drops south. This will bring a slight storm chance to areas north of I-70 Sunday morning. Most areas will stay dry until Sunday afternoon and evening as scattered storms are possible. This will bring relief from the heat with high temperatures staying in the lower 90s Sunday and upper 80s by Monday. Some storms are still possible Monday, depending on how fast the cold front moves south and out of the area. Along with cooler temperatures, humidity will be lower making it feel less muggy with no oppressive heat indices. We will have updates on storm chances through the week.
