UPDATE: Driver facing charges in fatal Miller County crash

UPDATE: A Marshall man is suspected of driving while intoxicated during a crash that killed his passenger and sent two other people to the hospital in Miller County.

The crash happened on Highway 54 at Route W around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers said Donald Talbott, 50, turned into the path of another car. His passenger, Grace Helgenberger, 46, of Marshall, was pronounced dead the scene.

Talbott and two people in the other car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers arrested Talbott on suspicion of driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another, failure to yield and not wearing a seatbelt.

ORIGINAL: The Miller County Sheriff’s Department is asking drivers to avoid eastbound U.S. 54 and Business 54 in Lake Ozark due to a crash.

According the Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash.

The left eastbound lane is open but traffic is moving slowly.
