Cooking may have caused Fulton house fire

The Fulton Fire Department believes cooking may be to blame for a house fire Thursday night.

Firefighters arrived on the scene in the 400 block of East 5th Street at about 11:20 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a home.

Crews were able to get the blaze under control, leaving the first floor with some smoke and water damage.

According to the department, early indications are that a cooking incident on the second level caused the fire.

The people inside were able to get outside safely.

The extent of the fire damage is not yet known.
